The day is finally here!! Cue all the confetti (literally)! You’ve cast your vote, (and our online poll is favoring boy over girl) so now it’s time to see if you’re right!
We absolutely wanted to know the gender of our little one but we still wanted it to be a surprise! Since the way we told our families ended up being so last minute and unplanned, we decided to make the gender reveal a little more fun and it gave both families an excuse to get together on a Sunday afternoon to spend a little time together! We also wanted it to be a surprise for our parents, so we had to enlist an outsider — this is where out best friends come in!
We found out the gender through a blood test (so the results are 99% accurate) that was done at our 12 week appointment. Once the letter arrived in the mail (which was double enveloped by the way), we handed it off along with all the party supplies and they took care of the rest. The hardest part then was waiting another week and a half for the reveal!
At the end of January, we gathered at Vivo Kitchen for brunch with our families. They prepared special chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with gender coordinating filling inside, topped with gold sprinkles. We set up a table with assorted blue and pink candies, confetti, our baby bear onesie from telling Troy he was going to be a dad, pictures of us as babies, and a chalkboard so each person could vote if they thought it would be a boy or girl! We also hired our girl Kristen Dyer to capture all the memories for us! It was so nice to have everyone together and for this to not be a secret anymore!! After chatting over coffee, the votes were in and it was time for the reveal!!!
Kristen! We LOVE this girl!!
Better get a quick selfie!
