Our Anniversary Photos

Hi friends!

This week we will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary! We can’t even believe how fast these years have gone by. To celebrate this milestone we thought we would (finally) share a decade’s worth of portraits with you that most of our friends and family haven’t even seen! Unless of course you’ve been to our house and have seen the anniversary wall of photos. We never got around to sharing these on social media except for maybe an updated profile picture here and there.

Every year since our wedding, we have had professional portraits taken together to celebrate another year of marriage — except year three and we don’t really have a good excuse for why we didn’t that year. We have made up for it though, with some longer sessions and a few years where we had more than one session. Not only are these portraits memories of who we were and what we looked like at that time in our lives, it is always great to be on the other side of the camera! To remember what it’s like to be the ones being photographed and how sometimes that can be uncomfortable and scary!

For our first wedding anniversary we spent an evening our wedding photographers and friends Jesse & Lisa from Jesse Valley Photography at the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory.

Then there was the time for our second anniversary where Oliver took over the portrait session. This time we spent the afternoon with Jesse & Lisa at St. Anthony Main and we discovered Oliver’s true modeling skills. He was our very first baby (besides the kitties) and we HAD to include him. I mean, just look at him!

Like we said, year three we somehow skipped our portraits (oops). We made up for it in later years and will share those with you a little later!

Year four we did three (yes, three) different looks for this shoot and this year we had our friend Spencer Combs photograph us. We did not include Oliver in this session as we didn’t want him to hog the spotlight again. To be honest, there are more photos in this session where we are being extremely ridiculous, laughing and making faces. Probably more than half of them. So we tried to pick a variety of crazy and normal ones to share.

For the last part of this session we wanted to bring in the Scrabble board. Ever since Troy proposed during a game of Scrabble the game has kind of held a special place in our hears.

For our 5th wedding anniversary we met up once again with Spencer Combs but this time at an apple orchard! We chose coordinating plaid shirts for the first portion of our shoot where Troy pulled Ashley around in a wagon, we picked apples, did some stunting in rows of apple trees and pretended we knew how to juggle. We also jumped on a giant tire like children.
